In Defence of Historical Romance Fiction

This is not a new essay, but just came across it because I was questioning why I am so drawn to this particular genre. I love and adore historical romance novels. This essay is a great explanation of the need it fulfills in women. We may slink around the shelves in a book store looking for a pirate adventure as our friends read the latest crime novel or something from YA or oprah’s book list.

No need to feel alone! Romance novels account for roughly 40% of book sales for publishers. With the skyrocketing success of e readers we can now read in peace without being judges for our choices.
