The Billionaire Bachelor by Jessica Lemmon
Overview by Publisher:
Manwhore. That’s what the board of directors-and the tabloids-thinks of billionaire bachelor Reese Crane. Ordinarily he couldn’t care less, but his playboy past is preventing the board from naming him CEO of Crane Hotels. Nothing-and no one-will keep him from his life’s legacy. They want a settled man to lead the company? Then that’s exactly what he’ll give them.
Merina Van Heusen will do anything to get her parents’ funky boutique hotel back-even marry cold-as-ice-but-sexy-as-hell Reese Crane. It’s a simple business contract-six months of marriage, absolute secrecy, and the Van Heusen is all hers again. But when sparks fly between them, their passion quickly moves from the boardroom to the bedroom. And soon Merina is living her worst nightmare: falling in love with her husband . . .
This was such a GREAT book! I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. In the middle of reading this book, I paused and thought that it reminded me of reading Judith McNaught. The story was expertly conceived and the execution of the emotions, events and drama was perfect! The author was in complete control of how this story unfolded and it was delightful!
Merina and Reese are enemies. She had just found out that he bought the beloved family hotel, the Van Heusen from her parents and changes are coming. She storms into his office and makes demands. This sets the stage for a thrilling and exciting romance between the two.
Reese has an image problem. He is a connoisseur of one night stands. He is fighting to be named CEO of his family’s hotel chain and needs an image rehab. He bribes Merina into being his pretend wife for six months to fool everyone that he has changed.
This is the perfect set up for a contemporary romance novel. Forced intimacy and proximity allow the characters to really get to know one another. Why is Reese the way he is? Merina knows that they don’t have a shot at the real deal unless he faces his past.
It was never frustrating when the relationship took one step forward and then one back. I think it was because I was so emotionally invested in the romance. I wanted things to work out between the two of them and as time worn on and Merina became important to Reese, I knew he was going to push her away. So I hung on, because I knew the author had something great in store for Merina and Reese.
Reese is the driven business man, but seeing him with Merina made him real and not so terrifying. Merina loved her hotel and that was about all that she had in her life. Together, they made sense and they also complimented each other. The passion between the two may have started for the paparazzi, but it doesn’t take long for it to happen behind closed doors as well. They weren’t just sex scenes in a book, but a step closer to making the marriage a reality.
I really, really enjoyed this book. It was a terrific story, full of fantastic characters, sexy scenes and a great romance. I highly recommend checking out this book!
