Overview by Publisher:

U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Noah Miller—call sign Burn—loves nothing more than flying hard and fast. When he meets a gorgeous and sassy woman while partying in Las Vegas, he immediately locks on to her.

Jordan Callahan owns a thriving clothing boutique, but her love life is far less successful. Her luck changes when six feet, two inches of sexy swagger asks her to dance and turns her world upside down.

One scorching weekend becomes an undeniable chemistry that they can’t leave in Vegas. But the long distance relationship and their different lives threaten to ground their romance. And when the dangers of Noah’s job become all too real, Jordan learns being with a fighter pilot means risking it all for a shot at love…

Who didn’t love Top Gun?  I was a kid when the movie came out and man – it was the best movie!  It made instant celebrities of fighter pilots and the edge of danger they flirted with.  Military romance trope has become quite popular lately, so reflecting on it, I’m surprised that this is the first book I have read featuring this selective fraternity of alpha males.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.  The story opens with a bachelorette party that leads Noah and Jordan to meet.  They have scorching chemistry and after a weekend of amazing sex and chemistry, they decide to try to make it work and see where it goes.

This is kind of uncharted territory in a romance novel.  Usually we don’t follow characters into the ‘happily ever after’ stage.  Except, the happy part takes a while to come.  Noah has devoted his life to the military. Jordan has a business in Florida and she has to put her life on hold to travel to Oklahoma to visit Noah to keep the romance alive.

What I liked about this book, in a strange way, was the reality and frustration of a long distance relationship.  Any woman who has a partner who works evening, shift work, in another city or with the military, will appreciate the struggles this couple goes through.  It was pretty realistic when the choices Noah and Jordan had to make.

What helps in this story is the hot and passionate attraction they have for each other.  They are definitely in the honeymoon phase of the romance and the lucky reader gets to enjoy a view into the bedroom.  With all the emotional tension in the story, it’s the sex and intimacy between the two that keeps them together.

This is the first book in a new series and Noah’s wingmen are featured in the story.  The next book will be the story of Thor and it looks like Easy will have his book in the future.  I will definitely be following this series!
