Overview by Publisher:

Tanner Bennet hates weddings. They just remind him that he simply isn’t cut out for any kind of healthy, committed relationship—never has been, never will be. After getting rejected by the girl he thought was “the one” all those years ago, he made a huge mistake and married the wrong person. Now that the divorced heartbreaker has reluctantly agreed to be a groomsman for one of his NHL teammates, the last thing he expects is a chance at redemption with the one that got away.

After Marc Dupuis of the Chicago Aces hires wedding planner Katelyn Medford, she discovers that her big break comes with a twist: a reunion with her college sweetheart. The way she dumped Tanner still haunts her. Eight years—and three broken engagements—later, Katelyn knows she’ll never have that kind of innocent, wide-eyed passion again. Still, she and Tanner soon generate enough body heat to burn up the sheets. And even with Tanner’s career with the Aces up in the air, Katelyn’s wondering whether the time is right to let him in for real.

I have repeatedly expressed my love for hockey themed contemporary novels.  This series has been consistently great!  What works well is that the author understands hockey.  Not just the mechanics of the game, but the culture.  Growing up in Canada, it was pretty hard to miss how hockey was revered.  A favourite player being traded causes as much uproar as major world events.  Most children’s organizations and hospitals rely on their charitable work to brighten the day of those in need.  Kelly Jamieson’s books feature an understanding of the team dynamics, the adoration of fans and the impact of a hockey lifestyle.

This book features the reunion of Katelyn and Tanner.  They dated in college but split up when it came time for Tanner to join the league.  This is another example of the author really understanding the culture of hockey.  Many teenagers live away from home while playing in farm leagues and travel to new cities wherever they get their big break.  Tanner’s call up effectively ended their relationship since Katelyn wouldn’t go with him.

Katelyn is now living in Chicago and has been hired by a couple from a previous book to plan their wedding which puts her in Tanner’s sphere.  This story is full of the delicious dance two former lovers do – from shock to disdain to interest to lust.  It was exciting to read how they rediscover each other.

Kelly Jamieson writes really hot love scenes.  Tanner is the perfect blend of gentleman and dirty mouthed lover.  She puts those big muscles and tight abs to use in the bedroom.

There is a lot of depth to the characters and the past.  They have been apart for quite a while and the life events that have occurred are realistic.  While they may have lost years together, the past helps to shape their future.

Hockey season is in full swing.  If you are a fan of the fast paced, hard hitting game than you need to check out this series!

Overview by Publisher:

Not only is Jared Rupp one of the stars of the NHL’s Chicago Aces, he’s also the owner of the Sin Bin, the after-hours hot spot where the whole team hangs out. Lately, Jared can’t take his eyes off the woman he’s hired to give the Bin a more modern feel: a sexy, sophisticated consultant who has carved out a niche updating drink menus. She’s as passionate about her career as Jared is about hockey—and yet he can’t help wondering what kind of cocktail she really wants.

In her line of work, Sidney Frayne is used to guys hitting on her in bars, but Jared gets her hot enough to burst into flames. When he’s wining and dining her, he’s sophisticated as hell; on the rink, he’s a testosterone-fueled powerhouse. Still, Sidney’s bitter divorce taught her to keep her emotions on ice. With her busy schedule—and Jared’s playboy reputation—she’s not sure she’s ready for a fling. Because if she lets Jared into her bed, she just may have to let him into her heart.

Hockey season is almost in full swing!  It’s one of the only reasons winter is bearable.  I recently found this Instagram thread that features the hottest men of the NHL.  I can definitely see where authors get their inspiration!  There are some very handsome men who chase the puck for a living!

Jared is one of the smart guys in the league.  He realizes that he can’t play forever and needs to have a career afterwards.  He has created the restaurant, Sin Bin so that he has something other than hockey in his life – although having earned a Stanley Cup once has made him thirsty for it again!  He meets a lovely and sexy blonde at the bar one night and it’s not the result he expects.  Instead of getting hot and heavy, she is writing up a business proposal to improve his restaurant.

This story features a lot about the restaurant industry and the hockey world, but it really at the heart of it is a story about two people navigating a relationship.  Jared falls hard and fast for Sidney, but she is the one reluctant to give her heart to a real relationship.

Like all Kelly Jamieson books, this one features some amazing action – on the ice and in the bedroom.  I really appreciate the attention she pays to developing the hockey aspect of the story.  It’s important as this trope needs to feature what happens on the ice otherwise it’s just a contemporary romance book and not realistic to the hockey life.  Her books feature great sex scenes that have very sexy men who are well matched by the women they have in their lives.  This book is no exception and I found myself getting hot under the collar reading some of the moves Jared puts on Sidney.

What made this book so interesting is that it’s rare to find a woman who pushes a hot, successful and all around nice guy away.  Sidney has been burned in the past, but her reluctance to get involved with Jared requires introspection.  Her motivations and past are explored so well that this relationship is believable.

Another great hit for Kelly Jamieson!
